Congratulations
to our winning team for the Utility Gundog Society’s
Herts,
Beds & Bucks Branch of Andy Latham, Lee Hartis and Richard
King.
Andy Latham captained the team once again, competing with his
young
2 year old dog, ‘Bruce’, the son of ‘FTCh Skellorn Danty’. Lee
Hartis
was representing our branch for the second year with his
dog ‘Bob’ and
our new team member was Richard King, also running
a
2 year old dog, ‘Max’, for the first time in this event.
The team put on a superb performance on the first day with Andy
and
Lee Hartis lying in joint first place for top individual dog and
Richard King 2 points behind them in second place.
It was a very close run competition on the second day with some
tricky retrieves. However by lunch time Lee Hartis and his dog
Bob
had won
the accolade of top dog for the second year running.
The team scored 110 points in the grand finale in the afternoon
where the dogs are lined out on one side of the river to sit a
mock
drive.
They then have to retrieve dummies from across the river.
The dummies
are given a points value and the highest points are
obtained by
retrieving those dummies that are situated on the top
of the high
bank opposite.
It was a nail biting finish with our team winning by just 2 points!
