For
their first Trial of the season, the Utility Gundog Society, Surrey

into a warm

giving retrieves
on stubble and hedges, then roots and maize and
finally rough grass.
Partridges and pheasants were shot well by the Guns who enjoyed
watching an excellent
standard of dog work.
Six dogs sat on the last drive as the Guns and Judges made their
choice.

Dog All-Aged Stake for AV Retrievers
at Castle Goring, near Worthing, West Sussex
by kind invitation of J. Fitzroy Somerset Esq
Thursday 9th December 2010
Judges: Mr Tony Turner (1928), Mrs Barbara Kuen (2579),
Mr Mark Lucas (2491) and Mr Ron Taylor (3058)
Amazingly
this was the ninth trial that we have been lucky enough
to hold on
this beautiful ground. As always the day ran like
clockwork with
keepers Martin and Kieran producing plenty of good
birds over the guns.
We are therefore very grateful to Fitzroy and
the Guns for sharing
their
day with us all.
Four dogs sat in the last drive – one picked a runner in the drive,
one
failed to pick a Woodcock, one picked from the wood, and
lastly our
winner picked a strong cock runner from the wood. We
had seen some
excellent dog work on a very cold day.
1st – Beth
Rayner with Hobhearn Comet
2nd – Gwen
Butcher with Labcrown Goshawk at Broomwood
3rd – Paul Jennings
with Oakvalley Black Sabbath
Judges
and award winners at Castle Goring
These
dogs have qualified to run in the All-Aged Cup Finals on
17th January 2011 and we wish them lots of luck!
I
would like to thank all my helpers who make the day possible, and
lastly the Judges for their valuable time, and making my day easy.
