We had a steady flow of game thanks to Head keeper Peter & his under keepers, with some great shooting from Gary Vidler & his team of guns on the first day & Clive Gibbons & his team of BASC guns shooting for us on the second day. After 11 dogs went through to day 2, we finished on 8 retrieves for the final dogs. Huge Thank you to my judges Kevin Doughty, Roger Wade, Graham Stanley & Di Stevens. Special thanks to Lorne Kentish for being Chief Steward for both days & also to the rest of my amazing team of helpers who were very efficient & made the days run so smoothly. It was also lovely to see our Vice President Gwen Butcher, who came to hand out the awards.

Today was our turn to run the UGS Open Area Finals at the Pheasantry. Hurst Green.
We ran the test on some super ground with special thanks to Chris & Sue Ellis who were the perfect hosts. The judges today were Helena Sully and Di Stevens who both did a great job choosing today’s winners.
Thank you also to our fantastic team of helpers who came forward to throw and put out dummies, cook and help keep the day running smoothly.

I might be a bit bias but a superb team win for Kent and East Sussex with fantastic scores. A lovely competitive atmosphere with a lot of friendly banter between the teams throughout the day. The awards were presented by Phil Askew who came along to support The Utility Gundog Society.

2018/01/05 – UGS All Aged Finals

UGS All Aged Finals on the 5th January 2018 at Paddockhurst Estate by kind permission of John Hoare

Judges: Barry Taylor, Colin Pelham, Liz Taylor and Mel Brooks.

Thank you to our hoast John Hoare, Keeper Nigel Firth and his team for putting on such a great day. Great ground with a mix of woodland and parkland retrieves with the judges strething the distances towards the end of the trial to challenge both dog and handler. Excellent shooting by the guns. Thank you to the judges Barry Taylor, Colin Pelham, Liz Taylor and Mel Brooks. On a personal note as this was my last trial as FT sec I would just like to thank all my helpers stewards, markers, game carriers, refreshment providers who have turned up come rain or shine and travelling some distances to support the club and members without you guys there would be no trials. Thankyou.
