The UGS Eastern Counties Branch held our open sugar beet test, the last for the season, on the 2nd August, special thanks to Loose Hall Farms and Peter Rushbrook for allowing to use their land.
The test was walked up in sugar beet which consisted of different retrieves, marks, blinds, both in front of, and behind the line.
The judges, Roger Ketley and Adam Snare, made a brilliant job offering retrieves and taking their own giving the dogs and handlers plenty of chances in the strong wind. Scent was good.
For the afternoon the judges had a cut, taking 14 dogs forward for a long blind out of the beet and a blind in the maze strip which made a final result.
1st – Jon Dower, Mitfornton Tobin (Lab dog).
2nd – Jon Dower, Invincible Emerald (Lab bitch).
3rd – Leslie Crompton, Hanwoodgold Breeze Golden (GR bitch).
COM – Sharon Dingle, Bellspaddle Mungo (Lab dog)
COM – Tim Briggs, Ruby Runner (Lab bitch) also taking home the Best Marking trophy.
With 33 dogs running the helpers, judges and dog steward kept the day running.
Thanks to our sponsors, Skinner’s and Dog and Field.
